Formed in the mid 70’s they were originally named Beacon Rangers/Beacon Park before a 2006 name change to Lichfield City FC.

Based in the cathedral city of Lichfield at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium, Lichfield City have had a difficult start to life in the NPL West. They are currently stuck at the bottom of the league having played 3 and lost 3 conceding 14 goals.

Last year they plied there trade in the NPL Division 1 midlands following promotion the previous season but moved sideways for the 26/27 season to the NPL Division 1 West.

They finished 8th in a debut campaign at this level, 3 points outside the play offs.

A cagey first half where Lichfield went close, hitting the bar before minutes later the ref pointed to the spot where Haines converted.

Early in the second half Ash Fallon poked home on the second attempt to equalise.

A late 91st minute Jack Birch goal then put Stafford 2-1 up, only for John Mills to level things up from the spot after Hisham Chiha was pulled back in the box.

The match went to penalties where Scott Moloney proved to be the hero saving Mansell’s spot kick as two other Lichfield players missed the target.
